2020 has continued to produce outstanding pieces of art as musicians shake off the lockdown lethargy and get back to winning ways. With the onset of summer we were still waiting for the tracks that would deliver that X factor and the ladies have not disappointed with Feli Nandi, Anita Jaxson and more representing in a major way. Not to be left out is Gemma Griffith who dropped visuals for +263 featuring Ndebele rapper Asaph and dancehall superstar Nutty O.
The track itself has that feel good vibe, a love story about falling in love over the phone on those late night conversations. Also representing the pride of being Zimbabwean by that +263 prefix code and sung in three of the country’s languages indicating how inclusive the artists were trying to be. A super effort and commendable enterprise.
The visuals were made for the the track with that cloudy sky giving off a “it’s about to rain” impression showing the other side of summer. The video is directed by Marc Neilson and it was great to see upcoming dancers The Sheroes adding their energy to the lovely track. Asaph and Nutty O definitely change the dimension of the track with their unique styles raising the bar higher. It’s too early to tell but in my books ranks as one of the best collaborations of the year.
